Things I’ve been…reading and watching

When I’m not writing or working as my alter ego (super badass librarian), I read a lot of books and watch a lot of tv shows. I am a total geek.

tv and books

Mister Scarlett has joked that I watch pretty much every piece of trash on tv. I disagree, I watch highly entertaining, highly education television…*ahem* Actually I do watch an awful lot of tv, but it’s part of my downtime so I don’t feel guilty.

Here are a few tv and books shows I’ve been enjoying recently:

iZombie

izombie

I’ve just watched the last episode of season 3 on Netflix. I love this show! Such a great concept with lots of humor and questions about how zombies would handle integrating into society once they are ‘revealed’.

The 100

This show just keeps getting better and better. Although *MAJOR SPOILER READ NO FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN SEASON 4* I can’t believe they killed Roan. He was one of my favorite characters *sobs*

I would recommend this if you love gritty, futuristic drama.

American Gods

I watched this weekly on Amazon Prime. It was the most visually stunning, fucked up show I’ve seen in a while. I love what David Slade did with some Hannibal episodes, and this was no different. It was amazing and confusing, and I’m sooo hoping they make another series.

Those are just a few. I’ve also been watching Dark Matter (excellent sci-fi show on the SciFi channel), Lethal Weapon, Shadowhunters, Reign, Quantico. The list goes on!

Now onto books. I consume books like a yummy piece of cake. I get through 2-3 a week. Here my favourites from the last few weeks:

Wicked Things by Callie Hart

Love, love, love Zeth Mayfair, almost as much as adore Callie Hart. I’ve only just discovered her books in the past few months (thank you, Kindle Unlimited!) and I’ve become a complete fan girl. Zeth fucking Mayfair is amazing – dark, brooding, violent and completely adorable. You really should check out the Blood and Roses series!

Come Sundown by Nora Roberts

come sundown

I’ve had a very long relationship with Nora Roberts, as I’m sure most of us romance readers have. In my eyes she is the Queen of romance. I remember reading Homeport many, many, many years ago and falling in love. That’s when I first realised I wanted to write what I write. Come Sundown is the latest in her stand alone romantic suspense novels, and in my opinion, is one of the better ones. Cowboys, romance and crime. Definite winner!

Delicate Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan

This book has been on my kindle for over six months and finally stared it. All I can say is wow, how have I NOT read this series?! I believe it’s up to something like book 8. I’m kicking myself for missing out. Tattoos, hot sex, bearded hero…yummy. The good thing is I can purchase each book every time I reach a writing goal – that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it 😉
